Instead of an introduction

I am very excited about this new beginning.

The main purpose of this blog is to share with you my experiences in religious media. Although religious media is one very narrow segment of the media industry, there are quite a few religious media gurus who claim they know it all and therefore they can perform miracles for your ministry. Supposedly, not only can they help your ministry to establish a global influence but they do so while they are transforming you, the minister or church leader, in a TV star overnight. Well, I am not one of them, sorry. In addition, I don’t believe that media is a paranormal tool that can do your job as you drink your coffee in the morning chatting with friends about the newest social media network or about the latest gadget launched by Apple.

The first lesson I learned very early in my media activity (which goes back as far as 1996) is simple: whether it’s filming, editing, publishing on the web, script writing or playing the producer’s role, media is hard work. One click is not enough; one camera placed in the back of a church will neither transform your sanctuary in a television studio nor your parish in a Hollywood’s branch.

Let’s get real and roll our sleeves as we start our adventure. The days when facebook was supposed to take the Good News to the whole world and thus accomplishing our mandate are over. Is time to face the reality!
